(American, b 1987) Nathaniel Ancheta’s research-based practice includes studio works, installations, public art, teaching, writing, curating and community engagement. Deeply rooted in themes of identity, self, representation, and connection to place, he re-frames the current practice between human and nature as a journey of self-discovery mirrored through our relationship with the environment, highlighting how personal and collective identities are shaped by and intertwined with the natural world.
His work has been exhibited exhibited at galleries, institutions and public sites internationally including Primo Piano Art Gallery, Venice, Italy; Avenue 50 Art Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Art In Residence, Antelope Acres, CA; Ecole De Beaux Arts, Paris, France; Art Institute of Hollywood, Hollywood, CA; Kala Art Gallery, Berkeley, CA and University of Wisconson, La Crosse, WI. In 2024 Nathaniel was nominated top 25 Creative Revolutionaries by CODAmagazine.
Nathaniel Ancheta is the President and co-founder of Art In Residence, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to exploring the potential of site-responsive art in his home region of Antelope Valley, CA, with a focus on creating art and fostering a community through active practice, outreach, and education. He is also the Vice-Chair of the Public Arts Commission for the City of Palmdale, CA and Senior Tech for public art for the City of Lancaster, CA
