(American, b 1987) is a contemporary artist, designer and curator living and working in Lancaster, CA. Born in Lancaster, CA, a small town an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles where he spent most of his time on either a golf course or at the local mall. He developed a certain distance from an image-based culture and was submerged in a routine and habit-driven culture. Eagerly wanting to pursue a creative endeavor he quickly moved to San Francisco where he received his BFA with honors from Dominican University in 2009 and was selected to present his work at NCUR (National Convention of Undergraduate Research) in La Crosse, WI. Primarily working in drawing and painting, his work teetered on the edges of art and design. In 2009 he created Rethunk Design Group a small startup design company specializing in branding. Following his passion in fine art in 2014 he created Art Memo Magazine a magazine as he quoted “with no brand.” Rather it is a platform, a catch all for “artistic” exploration. Continuing his artistic pursuit, he moved back to Los Angeles finishing his MFA at Art Center College of Design in 2016, while also studying in Paris for six months. This marked a shift in his artistic process. Curious about habit and routine he turned his attention toward notions of infrastructure, participation, and interaction. Now working in mixed media his work functions within the thresholds of the interior/exterior, passive/active and natural/artificial. What started out as a curiosity about habit and routine has become one of his central driving motivations, creating work that catalyzes engagement with the individual, public, and its environment. In 2017 he moved his art practice from Los Angeles, CA back to his hometown of Lancaster, CA where he continues to live and work. In 2019 he partnered with longtime friends and fellow artists Dave Martin and Janice Ngan to launch Art In Residence, a 501(c)3 with a mission to explore the potential of public art in Antelope Valley, CA by engaging with the community through active practice, outreach and education.
